This period was one of the most important in the history of the society, for it was during these years that its present home was constructed.

Authoriza- tion by the legislature and approval by the board of control were necessary for the project.

At first an unfortunate site at the rear of the capitol was selected by the authorities, but after a long struggle the society secured the present appropri- ate site, which adds to the effectiveness and usefulness of the handsome building which was erected.

The completed project redounded much to the credit of the officers of the society.

Mr Noyess wise advice, untiring interest, and influence were not the least important factors in the successful conclusion.
